My Work Philosophy
I approach every working relationship as a partnership. My clients hire me because in the world of content and messaging, they don’t know what they don’t know.
But they do know they’re in good hands with me. Because of my experience and candor, clients rely on me to do a thorough intake of their brand, ask the tough questions, and give creative, cohesive solutions that bring only the best results.
In return for their invaluable trust, I give my all on every project I choose to undertake. No hand-holding required. No missed deadlines. Never tepid deliverables. Only exactly what they need, when they need it.
How I Work + What to Expect
There are three main things I feel make a project successful. When we partner together, you can expect to get the following:
- Clear expectations—Setting clear expectations around scope of work, timeline, communication, and roles from the moment we begin working together is a huge driver of success.
- Value-based pricing—I believe I’ve done my job only when I’ve solved the problem you engaged me to fix. Full stop. For this reason, I offer a fixed-cost, value-based model rather than charging hourly. This gives you the highest level of value, personal attention, and results no matter how long the project takes me to complete.
- Open communication—Honest, regular communication matters. I’m not a fan of confusion or hostility, and I’m willing to bet you aren’t either.
Frequently Asked Questions
I only take on a select number of projects per year. Doing so allows me to give every client the comprehensive thought, attention, and exceptional deliverables that they deserve.
Therefore, I am typically booked out 4-6 weeks in advance. I encourage all interested folks to contact me as soon as you have the information (budget, timeline, project specifics) you need to get started.
I will never take on a project unless I’m certain I can deliver incredible results. And that takes time. If you’re looking for rapid turnaround or a “rush job,” I’m likely not the right fit.
Generally speaking, most of my projects take between 4-8 weeks PER PHASE to complete. One phase refers to Brand Messaging Strategy, or IA, or Website Copywriting. If a client is doing all three phases, for example, that would take between 12-24 weeks.
Please keep in mind this timeline can vary greatly depending on a number of factors (scope, existing brand assets, client’s internal bandwidth and availability, etc.). It’s always best to connect with me so I can give you an accurate timeframe for your unique project.
I offer a fixed-cost, value-based pricing model. This method ensures my clients get the highest-quality results to solve their specific problem, whether it takes me 20 or 200 hours to do that. Remember that your content and messaging are an investment in your business—not just another cost.
My pricing reflects nearly two decades of expertise and my streamlined, frustration-free work process. No colossal misunderstandings, delays, subpar deliverables, countless revisions, or other trials and tribulations.
That being said, I am not the cheapest or most expensive out there. My project work begins around $5,000, but my average project is more. Please contact me for a custom quote.
I regret to say I’m unable to work with clients on tight budgets.
It would be my dream to work with every kick-ass purposeful brand in need of content and messaging help! But unfortunately, it is simply not sustainable for my business, nor does it serve my clients, for me to take on many projects at once. I’d never be able to deliver the high-quality results that I stake my reputation on.
No problem! If you just know that you need content and messaging help but you’re not quite sure where to start, please contact me for more information. I will be happy to hear your goals, understand your challenges, and then create a customized recommended solution for you to move forward.
Great question. There is a common misconception that all a professional copywriter needs to know is which web pages need to be written…and go!
Not true. Before you write one word of copy, you need a set of brand guidelines that gets you super clear on fundamentals like your mission, tone and voice, core values, key messaging points, communications goals and objectives, and target audience info. Only then will your copywriting be effective.
For this reason, I only take on copywriting projects for clients with existing brand guidelines, or who are interested in doing that Brand Messaging Strategy work with me first.
